This class built on the skills we were introduced to in GCT 260. I think I still prefer Photoshop 5.5 to 6.0, although I do have to admit an advantage to some of the new features added to 6. I think I found this class more frustrating than helpful because our instructor had also just been tossed into the same situation as his students: a newly released version of software no one knew how to use!
We used Photoshop in conjunction with Image Ready. Both programs are bundled together and Image Ready can do some really awesome Java coding for web page rollovers. This was the most beneficial skill I learned in this class.
Our two major projects were entire demo sites done these two programs. I don't think in real life that a designer would do a site like this. I would expect only the splash page would be so graphic-intense. For my two final projects, I chose Nike and Swiss Army Watches. The purpose of these sites was to demonstrate effective design and rollover implementation. In other words, there aren't a whole lot of pages after the splash page.
